#Poem – So You’ve Gone A Roving

So you’ve been a roving
But now you’re battered and asking
The door be opened
Well I can’t have you outside
And I can’t have you inside
As people will whisper
But it’s cold out and wet.
You best come in.
Leave the old world at the door.
And at the door
Slough off the weary,
Give me your heart to warm,
Your eyes to brighten,
The rocks on your shoulders –
Let me hang them.
And when you sit
Sit in your thoughts.
I’ll wrap you in calm,
In silks and tenderness
And give you something you’ve rarely had
Something I’ve rarely given.
A path
Together.
