I found this poem on an old external harddrive. I have no idea or memory who it is about. It may only have been a fragment. I can’t even piece together who it was I was writing about in 2002. The painting above is not related
The Cartoon
by Jamie Zubairi
It goes too easily.
The thought of you, goes
Like too many lines, the wrong curve,
A flash of the strobe
In my mind and then
Whiteness.
Blank.
Your face, looking like your cartoon,
So many different expressions
Made with the same line –
The line describing your hair
Actually lets slip your forehead
And the curve of your nose –
The hint of a break,
An accident you had
Going from the ground
To the sky,
Trampolining.
