I didn't get lost today. I didn't panic, All I could do was pedal, Move forward, Take in the view: The tankers, The cruisers, The gulls - Coming up to London this far. No seals though, unlucky. But the sun clears, And clouds soften And the whirr of my wheels as my companion. The dark railings bordering my right, The concrete buttress to my left Stops the land yearning into the sea. I stop post-like and watch. The blank sheet of river and sky Punctuated like a pianola roll By gulls and boats And wading birds In arpeggios Skittering.
